Hello and Happy Tuesday! This past week has been busy! I am really lucky to have so much going on behind the scenes with recipes, brand projects and some other incredible projects – including one that is dropping TOMORROW. Speaking of recipes, it was an exciting week in the world of Grossy x NYT Cooking! I shared a video making my latest (and I think, greatest) recipe Honey Mustard Chicken Pasta. I think we have a new classic on our hands, girls! In this recipe, the savory tang of Dijon mustard and the sweetness of honey are added to a garlicky white wine cream sauce that perfectly coats every strand of pasta. It’s topped with crushed up honey mustard pretzels (wild, I know), grated parm and chopped fresh parsley – call it flavor maxxing?! This recipe is best served in the biggest pasta bowl you have. If you have leftovers, I’ll be surprised!
I also had 2 recipes featured in the print edition of the NYT in a feature called “24 Reasons to Cook this Summer”! Every time I see my recipes in print in the Times I have to pinch myself a bit! They featured my Kale Caesar Pasta Salad and Linguini with Zucchini, Corn and Shrimp. Excellent choices, if I do say so myself!
Lastly, you can also now find me making the ICONIC Death by Chocolate recipe on NYT Cooking’s YouTube channel. I love this recipe so much – it’s one that I ate growing up and am excited to bring back to masses via YouTube! The recipe name suggests that it’s so rich and decadent that it may cause one to simply expire (dramatically perfect), and commonly takes the shape of a trifle dessert (one of my favorite versions of dessert). It consists of layers of crumbled brownies or chocolate cake, chocolate pudding and whipped cream, plus another layer of either crumbled chocolate sandwich cookies or chocolate toffee bars. It’s such a great recipe to have in your back pocket for big cookouts or simply summer suppers on the patio. And in case you needed my permission (you don’t!), you can use box cake or pudding mix and cool whip to replace any or all of the homemade layers in my recipe!
In case you missed it, I took you all on a tour of my enamelware collection on my Instagram. Every season is enamelware season (I’m basically a Crow Canyon collector at this point), but summer is its time to SHINE. I love using enamelware on the grill (yes, you can use it to cook on your grill), and for serving outdoor meals. Whether that’s perfectly grilled burgers and dogs or a lovely picnic in the park, enamelware is my go-to for cooking, serving, or transporting my outdoor eats. Over the weekend, it was the very first Copake Hillsdale Farmer’s Market of the season! I have said it before, but this market is one of two reasons I fell in love with the area I live in years ago (the other is Guido’s). It was so good to be back, and while there was little produce available (it’s early) there were plenty of plants to purchase and of course, my favorite breakfast sandwich. After the market, I met Gus at home. He was hard at work tilling our garden beds – they are so much better with freshly tilled soil! My dad came to visit us for the day to help garden. He and I tackled planting pots with plenty of annuals and helped Gus get some clematis going along our garden fence. I am deeply impatient to fill every garden bed we have and for everything to grow to full size (this takes years), of course. Since I bought the house 3 years ago, I have been turning to my neighbors for advice on what works best in our area in terms of planting, and this weekend my neighbor reminded me that planting little by little all season is a great way to plant a garden that blooms all season! She suggested going to the garden center and buying something that is in bloom every few weeks. I thought this was so smart – and also took the edge off the urgency to fill every square inch of dirt with something immediately. Maybe now I can *truly* relax as I toil away under my monogrammed gardening hat. TBD.
I ended the weekend making my Any Fruit Crisp. It felt like a real season opener, as this is my most frequently made recipe all summer long. The best part about this recipe is that you can use any fruit to make it, and this time I went for strawberry and rhubarb. It’s peak season for both and my GOD was it good! I always serve it with vanilla ice cream for dessert, but I encourage you to save some for breakfast topped with Greek yogurt! Breakfast of the summer!

Little King Smile & Frown Salad Servers – On April Fools’ day I posted a photo of my favorite little smiley spoon with a flipped smile, photoshopped to be a frown! It made me and my right-hand gal, Sarah, giggle, and it made many of you as well. I texted the photo to my friends Ken and Jeremy who own Little King, makers of so many things I love, including smiley spoon! Ken informed me that they actually had a frowning spoon in the works! It now lives as this salad serving set – one half with a smile and the other with a frown. Summer salad season just got so much cuter.
Metal Garden Face Chairs – There are few things in my home that make me happier than these metal face chairs on my back patio. They are just exactly the right mix of function, form and fun. I get asked where they are from every time I post a photo of them, so I thought they were worth sharing here in the ol’ newsletter as well. I own both his and hers versions, and they sit perfectly with a little marble cafe table I got a few summers ago for 10 dollars at the Hillsdale Flea Market! The market happens once a year and is this coming weekend from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Hillsdale Hamlet Park, southwest of the intersection of Routes 22 and 23. Warby Parker Sport Sunglasses – The words “grossy” and “sport” don’t go together often, if ever, but these new sport sunglasses from Warby Parker stayed on my face all weekend long while I engaged in my favorite “sport”: gardening. There was no slipping (and lots of sweating) due to the rubber details where they matter most on these River frames. Also, Gus has already stolen them, which means they are really good.
