I picture long Italian lunches (or dinners!) in late summer. The sunlight has changed – it’s lower, slightly softer, but Nonna (that’s you!) is still up in the kitchen when it rises, making her famous galettes. When it’s time to eat, all of her creations are placed on the table at the same time. There is a mix of sweet and savory galettes, freshly sliced prosciutto, and perfectly juicy late summer fruits. It’s a slow, easy and uncomplicated meal. I picture the scenery of Call Me By Your Name; dappled afternoon summer sun, lush fruit and relaxed conversation out on the porch. I suggest serving this whole meal at once and let people graze over both sweet and savory. In the essence of ease, both galettes use the same crust; it’s peppery, buttery, easy to make (and make ahead). And If you have a very large food processor (11+ cups) you can make the crusts for both galette at the same time.
